Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):
How does the course work?
The course has been set-up with a group-guided learning structure, which means you’ll need to form a Study Group Team of between two and six people. The course is self-paced, enabling you to complete all required activities each week—video lessons, quizzes, case studies, sections of your Growth Plan, etc.—at your own pace. You’ll also meet weekly with your Study Group Team to work on specific group activities. And your Study Group team members will help act as a sounding board for your Growth Plan—and you for theirs—as you go along.
How much does the course cost?
The Cherie Blair Foundation for Women currently provides the course to women entrepreneurs for free. If you do decide to register, we ask that you take it seriously and commit to completing all required activities each week. Past participants have told us that it’s a challenging course, but one of the greatest challenges they’ve had.
What are the requirements for registration?
If you meet the following requirements, you’re eligible to register for the course.
- You’re a woman who owns a registered, small business.
- Your business has generated a profit for 2+ years.
- You have a strong desire and commitment to grow the businesses in the short-term.
- You have current, accurate financial statements for the past 2 years.
- You have not previously accessed financing and believe financing may be needed in order to grow.
- You’re fluent in English with at least basic computer literacy.
- You’re able to dedicate 8+ hours of time for each of the 6 consecutive weeks of the course.
Note that the course does not in any way guarantee that you’ll be able to obtain financing, but it will help you acquire important knowledge and skills that are generally essential for obtaining financing.
How much time will it take?
You should only register if you can commit at least 8-10 hours per week for the full 6 weeks of the course. If you don’t have that time available right now, consider joining a future session instead.
Do I have to take the course as a group?
We strongly suggest that you assemble a Study Group team. A lot of the course is about collaboration, and you’ll benefit tremendously from the peer-to-peer activities. If possible, we recommend finding a group that you can meet with in-person. You might consider registering with friends or colleagues, who will help form your team. But it’s also possible to create a remote Study Group. And don’t worry if you don’t know anyone taking the course ahead of time. While we can’t assemble a group for you, you’ll be able to browse through our User Directory, and post in the discussion forums, to find other students to connect with.
What if I’ve taken the course already?
Assuming you’ve met the requirements above, you’re welcome to take the course again if you wish.
Who else is taking the course?
You’ll join women entrepreneurs from around the world who are looking to grow their businesses. Many participants find it valuable to take the course with coworkers. In addition, you’ll have the opportunity to share learnings, ask questions, and get to know other course participants from around the world via our online community.
